1992 U-20 South American Football Championship

The XVI. The 1992 U-20 South American Football Championship took place in Colombia from August 6, 1992 to August 30, 1992 .

The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in Medellín . The game was played in two groups, followed by a final phase, also in group mode. Eight teams took part in the tournament. These were the national teams of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay . Argentina's selection had not been given the right to start as a result of the incidents at the 1991 Junior World Cup . Brazil emerged victorious from the event . Places two to four went to the national teams from Uruguay , Colombia and Ecuador . The top three teams qualified for the 1993 Junior World Cup .

The top scorer of the tournament was Uruguayan Fernando Correa with five goals.
