1987 U-20 South American Football Championship

The XIII. The 1987 South American U-20 Football Championship took place in Colombia from January 23, 1987 to February 8, 1987 .

The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in the cities of Pereira , Manizales , Cartago and Armenia . The national teams of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay took part in the tournament.

The game was played in two groups, followed by a final phase, also in group mode. Colombia emerged victorious from the event . Places two to four went to the national teams from Brazil , Argentina and Uruguay . Colombia and Brazil thus qualified for the 1987 World Youth Championship in Chile .

The top scorer of the tournament was the Argentine Alejandro Russo with four goals scored.
