2009 U-20 South American Football Championship

The XXIV U-20 South American Football Championship 2009 took place from January 19, 2009 to February 8, 2009 in Venezuela .

The tournament was originally supposed to take place in Peru. However, the organizer Conmebol gave Venezuela to host the championships after FIFA had previously imposed a ban on the Peruvian association in relation to international competitions. The matches to determine the tournament winner were held in the cities of Puerto La Cruz , Maturín and Puerto Ordaz . The game was played in two groups, followed by a final phase, also in group mode. The national teams of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela took part in the tournament.

Brazil emerged victorious from the event . The national teams from Paraguay , Uruguay and Venezuela occupied places two to four . The top scorer of the tournament was the Brazilian Walter , the Paraguayan Hernán Pérez and Robin Ramírez and the Uruguayan Abel Hernández with five goals each .
