Héctor Omar Ramos , full name: Héctor Omar Ramos Delgado (born February 12, 1936 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Player career

Midfielder Ramos, who was born to a Spanish father from Santa Cruz de Tenerife , played for Nacional in Montevideo when he was 15 . His brother, who was a year younger than him, had joined Peñarol . Ramos was active with the Bolsos until 1958. In the 1958/59 season he was under contract with Real Madrid in Spain and was the national champion of the European Cup there that season . However, he did not prevail at the Madrilenians, played only two league games and was then loaned to Plus Ultra . This was followed by two seasons at Racing Santander , in which he was on the pitch 38 times and scored three goals. However, other sources also credit him with a contribution to that club in the 1962/63 season, as he almost ended Agapito Viñas ' football career there on the 7th match day in the game against Real Club Celta with a foul play , which resulted in this action the cruciate ligament and both menisci tore. In 1962 he moved to FC Elche and played there, interrupted by a stopover in 1965/66 at Celta de Vigo , until 1967. His usage statistics for Elche show 64 games and six goals until 1965. He has played eight games at Celta de Vigo. His debut for this club celebrated on the second match day of the season, the last appearance dates from the second leg against Sabadell in Balaidos for the - ultimately missed - promotion.

National team

Ramos was a member of the Uruguayan national junior team that took part in the 1954 South American Junior Championship in Venezuela and won the title. During the tournament he was used by coach Gerardo Spósito six times (no goal). Ramos was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed five international matches between June 24, 1956 and November 14, 1956 (no goal). With the Celeste he won the 1956 title at the South American Championship .
