Course of the Bokowenka |
The Bokowenka (Ukrainian and Russian Боковенька ) is a 59 km long right tributary of the Bokowa in central Ukraine .
The river with a catchment area of 645 km² has its source near the village of Vasylivka (Ukrainian Василівка ) in Dolynska district in Kirovohrad Oblast . It then flows mainly in a south-easterly direction through the Dolynska Raion, then flows through the north of the Kazanka Raion in the Mykolaiv Oblast and then into the Krywyj Rih Raion of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast .
The Bokowenka flows east of the village of Kudaschiwka and west of the city of Krywyj Rih into the Bokowa, which here, however, is already part of the Inhulets dammed up to the Karachunivka reservoir . Until the damming of the lake in 1959, the Bokowenka flowed directly into the Bokowa, which is why it is considered its tributary.
The river forms 10 natural ponds in its upper and middle course and is dammed in its lower course near Chrystoforiwka to the 216 hectare Chrystoforiwka reservoir and another reservoir. The average gradient of the highly regulated river is 1.6 m / km. The Bokowenka is on average 15 m wide and 2.5 to 4 m deep, the trapezoidal river valley is 1 km wide.
