Burnt by the Sun was an American metalcore band from New Jersey that was formed in 1999 and split up in 2009.

history

The band was formed in November 1999 by drummer Dave Witte and guitarist John Adubato. While they were working on the first songs, singer Mike Olender joined them; Bassist Ted Patterson and a second guitarist followed in February 2000. After the first songs were developed, the band made their first appearance on the Relapse Stage at the Metal Meltdown in March 2000. The band then headed to Sweetwood Sound Studios with producer Alap Momin in May to record seven songs. Three of these songs were included on a split release with Luddite Clone. In addition, the song You Will Move could be heard on Contaminated 3.0 , a compilation for the tenth anniversary of Relapse Records .

In the following months, further appearances followed and work on further songs continued. In 2001 a first, self-titled EP followed on Relapse Records. Shortly after the release, Chris Rascio joined the band as the new second guitarist. In 2002, the debut album Soundtrack to the Personal Revolution was released , which was produced by Matt Bayles at Trax East Studios . The next album The Perfect Is the Enemy of the Good followed in 2003. The album was again produced by Matt Bayles. Before the album was released, the band had held concerts with Killswitch Engage , Soilent Green and Lickgoldensky . In February 2004, appearances in the USA followed with Premonitions of War and Breather Resist , before appearances with Dying Fetus and God Forbid followed in March and April . The band then went on a tour of Japan together with Anthrax . In June, the band performed in North America with Unearth , A Perfect Murder and If Hope Dies . In September singer Olender and drummer Witte left the band. The latter joined Municipal Waste . Singer Nate Johnson, drummer Brandon Thomas and guitarist Nick Hale joined the cast as new members. Drummer Thomas was supposed to leave the band by the end of 2005. In 2009, Heart of Darkness was their last album on Relapse Records, before the band split up in the same year. The band consisted on the album of singer Mike Olender, guitarists John Adubato and Nick Hale, bassist Ted Patterson and the returned drummer Dave Witte.

style

The band played technically demanding Metalcore, whereby influences from Math and Grindcore were processed.
