Héctor Demarco (born May 31, 1936 in Montevideo , † June 21, 2010 ) was a Uruguayan football player .
Player career
society
The 1.82 meter tall midfielder Demarco first played for Defensor in Montevideo . There he was already in the squad in his junior days in 1954 and was also a member of the squad in the first division seasons from 1957 to 1959. From the seasons 1959/60 up to and including the season 1963/64 he was under contract with the Italian Serie A club FC Bologna and played 58 games for the Italians, in which he scored 15 goals. In his last season with the Bolognese he was Italian champion under coach Fulvio Bernardini and alongside teammates such as Helmut Haller , Harald Nielsen and Giacomo Bulgarelli . From the 1964/65 season to 1968 he ran 95 times for its league competitor LR Vicenza . His goal record there shows seven hits. In 1970 he was again in the Defensors squad , which was last supervised by Alejandro Morales in that season . He was only barely able to avoid relegation to the "B" with his teammates in the relegation round.
National team
Demarco was also a member of the Uruguayan national junior team, which took part in the 1954 South American Junior Championship in Venezuela and won the title. During the tournament he was used by coach Gerardo Spósito five times (no goal). Demarco was also a member of the senior team of Uruguay , for which he completed 14 internationals between March 13, 1955 and May 2, 1959, in which he scored three international goals. With the Celeste he won the title at the South American Championship under Hugo Bagnulo in 1956 .
