Franco Armani (born October 16, 1986 in Caslida , Santa Fe ) is an Argentine football player on the position of goalkeeper .

career

From 2006 to 2010 he was in the second team of Estudiantes de La Plata under contract. From 2007 he was active for Ferro Castill Oeste , in 2008 he switched to Deportivo Merlo, for which he played for two years. He then joined Atlético Nacional in Colombia in 2010 . He has been with River Plate since January 2018 .

Since he is married to a Colombian woman, he received the Colombian citizenship and was therefore also eligible to play for the Colombian national soccer team. It was his wish to take part in a soccer world championship for the Argentine national team . National coach Jorge Sampaoli nominated him for the squad for the 2018 World Cup . In the last group match against Nigeria on June 26, 2018, he made his debut as a goalkeeper in the national team. Armani and his team River Plate from Argentina won the Superclásico against arch rivals Boca Juniors the final of the Copa Libertadores 2018, which was played for the first time in its history on European soil in Madrid.
