Millonarios FC

Born in Cartagena , Carrascal began playing football at the local amateur club CD Heroicos and in 2014 moved to the junior division of Millonarios FC from the Colombian capital Bogotá . At the age of only 16, he made his debut on November 9, 2014 (18th matchday) in the 0-1 away defeat by Deportes Tolima , when he came on in the 82nd minute for Luis Hernán Mosquera . This mission was his only one in the 2015 game year and in the following 1-1 / 2 years he came to two more short missions.

Seville Atlético

On May 25, 2016 it was announced that Jorge Carrascal will be under contract for Spanish first division club Sevilla FC from the 2016/17 season . The Andalusians secured the attacking midfielder for a transfer fee of 900,000 euros and provided him with a five-year contract. There he should initially come for the reserve team Sevilla Atlético in the second-rate Segunda División at operating times. He made his league debut on September 2 (3rd matchday) in a 1-1 draw at home against UCAM Murcia , when he was brought into play in the second half for Uruguayan Andrés Schetino . In the final training session before the game against CD Lugo a week later, he tore a meniscus in his right knee and missed the rest of the season due to an injury.

Karpaty Lviv

After his recovery, Carrascal had no chance of a place in the team at Sevilla Atlético and was given on 13 July 2017 on loan to the Ukrainian club Karpaty Lviv . The first division secured a purchase option of two million euros. Ten days later he made his debut in the 1: 3 home defeat against Vorskla Poltava for the Seleno-Bili . In his second outing on September 10th (8th matchday) he scored for the first time when he scored his team's consolation goal in the 87th minute of their 6-1 home defeat against NK Weres Rivne . As a result, he established himself as a regular player. In the relegation round, he delivered impressive performances and contributed significantly to the relegation of the team. In April 2018 he was named Player of the Month in the Premjer-Liha. He scored six times in 23 league games this 2017/18 season and prepared four more goals.

Under the new head coach José Morais , he retained his status in the starting line-up in the following season 2018/19 . By the winter break, he was used in 16 league games in which he was without a goal, but was able to assist a goal.

River Plate

On January 30, 2019, he moved to the Argentine first division club River Plate on loan until the end of the year . The capital city club also secured a purchase option of three million euros. After he was not included in the first few weeks, he made his debut on March 17 (23rd matchday) when he came on as a substitute for Cristian Ferreira in the 3-0 home win against CA Independiente in the closing stages . In the 2: 3 home defeat against CA Tigre on the last day of the match he was in the starting line-up for the first time and consequently ended the season with two league appearances. He played his first game in the Copa Libertadores on May 8 in a 2-2 draw in the group game against Internacional Porto Alegre .

On the first matchday of the 2019/20 season against Argentinos Juniors , he scored the goal to make it 1-1 in the final phase shortly after being substituted on. As a result, he established himself as a rotation player under head coach Marcelo Gallardo . At the turn of the year 19/20, River Plate drew the option to buy and Carrascal was given a 2-1 / 2-year contract. Also due to international secondments, he was then no longer considered and ended the season with two goals, which he was able to achieve in eight league appearances.

National team

With the Colombian U17 national team , he took part in the U17 South American Championship in Paraguay in 2017 . There he was used in five games in which he scored once. With Colombia he finished sixth.

Carrascal has been a Colombian U23 international since September 2019 .
