The Club Atlético Tigre is an Argentine football club from Victoria in the province of Buenos Aires . The club, founded in 1902, rose to the Primera División after the 2006/07 season .

history

The club was founded in Tigre in 1902 . He is now in the small town of Victoria , around 30 km north of the capital in the province of Buenos Aires . Tigre played first class in 24 seasons in the professional field. Before 2007, the 1955 season was the most successful year in the club's history when the club finished sixth out of a total of 16 teams. The club played first-class in 1931–33, 1935–42, 1946–50, 1954–58, 1968, 1980 and again since 2007.

In the 2004/2005 season, the Tigre won the Primera B Metropolitana. In 2006, Diego Cagna became the team's coach and was promoted to the Primera División at the first attempt. In the play-offs they were able to beat CA Nueva Chicago , but the rise was overshadowed by riots by the opposing fans.

For the Apertura 2007 Tigre was in acute danger of relegation, but the team surprised the critics and was able to win ten of the 19 games. Among them was a 4-1 win against the top team from River Plate . Even on the last day of the match Tigre still had a chance of the championship, but in the decisive game the team was defeated by the Argentinos Juniors and Club Atlético Lanús became Argentine champion and Tigre had to be content with the runner- up before the Boca Juniors . The team also played for the championship again in the 2012 Clausura, finally reaching second place, but only narrowly escaped the relegation duel due to the weak three-year point average, which is decisive for relegation or staying in the league. In the following six months, the Copa Sudamericana 2012 finals almost won their first international title, but São Paulo FC prevailed on both legs .
