history

Grandstand of the stadium

The Estadio José Dellagiovanna in Victoria, a small town with a good 30,000 inhabitants in the Partido San Fernando in Gran Buenos Aires , was built in 1935 and 1936. The opening took place on September 20, 1936. For the first game in the new stadium, the future user club CA Tigre and the top club CA Boca Juniors from Bonaren met for a friendly game, which the latter won 4-0. The first league game at the Estadio José Dellagiovanna rose on September 27, 1936 as part of the sixth game day of the championship between Tigre and CA Independiente from Partido Avellaneda , where the guest won 1-0. On December 6, 1936 Tigre was able to celebrate his first home win in the new stadium when Ferro Carril Oeste was defeated 2-0. Overall, CA Tigre has not yet won a national championship, the best placement in the first division was a second place in the 2007 Apertura season. Currently the club, which, as the club name suggests, actually came from Tigre , has over the years moved to Victoria, in the Primera División , the top division in Argentina.

The Estadio José Dellagiovanna is named after José Dellagiovanna, the founder of CA Tigre. From 1950 to November 27, 2009, the stadium was named Estádio Monumental de Victoria , before it was renamed in honor of the first club president. Between 1936 and 1950 it was called Estadio Evita in reference to the then “First Lady” of Argentina, Eva Perón . Nowadays the sports facility can accommodate 28,684 spectators.
