The Estadio Gigante de Arroyito is a football stadium in the city of Rosario ( province of Santa Fe ) in Argentina . The municipal stadium is the home of the CA Rosario Central football club . At times it was named after him in honor of the politician Lisandro de la Torre . The stadium has a capacity of 41,654 seats.
The sports facility was built between 1927 and 1929. It has been renovated several times and adapted to the increased requirements of FIFA with further measures . During the Football World Cup 1978 six games were played in the stadium, including all three games of the second round with participation of the Albiceleste in the games against Poland, Brazil and Peru.
During the 1987 Copa América in Argentina, three games were played in the stadium. The three national teams of Paraguay, Bolivia and Colombia met in preliminary group C.
