The Estadio José María Minella ( German José María Minella Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Argentine city of Mar del Plata , Buenos Aires province . The facility, located in the Partido General Pueyrredón , offers 35,354 seats, 20,354 of which are seated and 15,000 are standing.
history
The stadium was built from 1976 to 1978 for the Football World Cup in 1978 and was therefore initially called Estadio Mundialista de Mar del Plata . It was later renamed in honor of Mar del Plata-born football player and coach José María Minella . The stadium is part of the Complejo Municipal de Deportes “Teodoro Bronzini” ( German municipal sports complex “Teodoro Bronzini” ).
The stadium is used by Club Atlético Aldosivi and Club Atlético Alvarado . In March 1995, Mar del Plata hosted the Pan American Games . In the football tournament, the Argentine U-23 of the men won against Mexico (5: 4 i. E.). In 2001, a total of seven games of the Junior World Cup took place in the stadium . In addition, the U-20 South American Football Championship in 1999 , the 7-a-side rugby World Cup in 2001 and the South American Women's Football Championship in 2006 stopped at the Estadio José María Minella.
