Ockensen is a district of the Salzhemmendorf patch in the Hameln-Pyrmont district .
The village of Ockensen am Ith is rural. There is a curious natural monument, the Ockensen water tree , and a nature trail runs nearby.
history
In 1330 Ockensen belonged to the Archdeaconate Wallensen. The place had 12 farms in 1400, 18 in 1557 and 23 in 1757 . The general church visit took place in Ockensen in 1588.
The Evangelical Lutheran Chapel of St. Andrew was built in 1729 and received a new roof in 1751. It was repaired in 1962.
In 1904, a sawmill built a reservoir to drive a turbine. To be able to read the water level from his house, he placed a wooden tube in the pond. By calcium deposits later emerged from water tree Ockensen . The sawmill was shut down in 1926 and the building was sold to the state forest administration.
In 1970 the water tree was overgrown by brush and was exposed. In 1992 it had to be repaired by specialists. The place celebrated the centenary of the water tree in 2004. In the course of this, a seating group at the water tree and the forest nature trail were inaugurated.
