The Quinta El Ombú in San Fernando |
San Fernando is a partido in the province of Buenos Aires in eastern Argentina , which belongs to the Gran Buenos Aires metropolitan area . Its administrative seat is also called San Fernando and is located roughly in the center of the area. San Fernando has 148,064 inhabitants (INDEC census, 2001).
In addition to the densely built-up area in the west, the Partido also includes numerous islands of the Paraná delta and therefore has a comparatively low population density. It borders in the west on Tigre and Campana , in the north on the province of Entre Ríos , in the east on Isla Martín García and on Uruguay and the Río de la Plata and in the south on San Isidro .
Like the other Partidos in the province, San Fernando also has the status of a municipality (municipio), but is divided into different localities (localidades) and is therefore more similar to the German rural or urban districts.
Localities
San Fernando is divided into three localities:
- San Fernando (69,110 inhabitants)
- Victoria (population 39,447)

3,067 inhabitants also live on the islands of the delta of the Río Paraná.
