Lucas Ramón Barrios Cáceres (born November 13, 1984 in San Fernando , Buenos Aires , Argentina ) is a Paraguayan- Argentinian football player .
Career
Lucas Barrios was born the son of an Argentine and a Paraguayan in the Partido San Fernando in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires and grew up with four brothers and three sisters in a suburb of Buenos Aires . Barrios is divorced and has one son. Since April 8, 2010 he is also a Paraguayan citizen .

In his youth, Barrios played for the Argentinos Juniors club , where Diego Maradona grew up. There he got the nickname "La Pantera" ("the panther") because of his speed of arrival. He had played in the Argentine and Chilean second division before his breakthrough at CD Cobreloa . He joined the Chilean first division team in 2006 and was able to convince with his performance and goals. The Mexican club Atlas Guadalajara and the Chilean top club CSD Colo-Colo became aware of him through his hits . Barrios chose Atlas but was far from his previous performance there.
After 14 league games for his new club, he left the team again to sign a loan deal with Colo-Colo. In 2008 he was the top scorer in Chile; the club then committed him firmly. At the end of the 2008 season he helped the club to the 28th championship with his goals. Overall, Barrios scored the most first division goals worldwide in the calendar year with 37 goals in 38 games. Barrios, however, did not win the title of " world goalscorer ", which went to Leandson Dias da Silva that year.
Borussia Dortmund
In July 2009 he moved to the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, where he replaced Alexander Frei , who had moved to FC Basel . He received a four-year contract, which he extended six months later to June 30, 2014. Barrios played his first competitive game on August 1, 2009 in the first main round of the 2009/10 DFB Cup against SpVgg Weiden , in which he also scored his first competitive goal for his new club. In the second round of the DFB Cup, Barrios scored twice in the game at Karlsruher SC . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 3, 2009 in the away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach , and scored twice for the first time on matchday 16 in Wolfsburg . He scored a total of nine goals by the end of the first half of the season, including the 1-0 winning goal at Borussia Dortmund's 100th birthday on December 19, 2009 against SC Freiburg . On matchday 32, Barrios scored all three Dortmund goals in a 3-2 win in Nuremberg , which Ebi Smolarek had last achieved for BVB in the 2005/06 season. By the end of the season, Barrios had scored 19 goals and was third on the top scorer list.
In his first two Europa League games on August 19 and 26, 2010 against the Azerbaijani club FK Qarabağ Ağdam , he scored a total of three goals and was thus involved in reaching the group stage. In the 4: 3 victory in the group stage at Karpaty Lviv , Barrios took the penalty to make it 1: 0, scored the 3: 3 himself and prepared the other two goals for BVB. Barrios then played a strong first half of the season with his offensive partner Shinji Kagawa , in which he scored eight goals. Last but not least, he had a share in BVB's good first round record (14 wins, one draw, two defeats) and was autumn champion. At the start of the second half of the season he was plagued by a flu virus and only played against VfL Wolfsburg on matchday 20 in the starting line-up . In this game he scored his ninth goal of the season. Barrios contributed on the 32nd matchday with a goal to the 2-0 victory over 1. FC Nürnberg and the associated early win of the German championship.
Almost a year later, on the 32nd matchday of the 2011/12 season , Barrios became German champions for the second time in his career with Borussia Dortmund. Unlike last year, he was, however, often come only as a substitute for use as it was in the first round by a hamstring turned out injured and Robert Lewandowski now had the edge in the tip. Since 2012
After the 2011/12 season Barrios went to the Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande . There he signed a four-year contract. At the end of October 2012 he won the Chinese championship with the club and the Chinese Cup in November.
In 2013 he moved from Guangzhou Evergrande to the Russian club Spartak Moscow . There he could not assert himself, however, and switched to the French first division club HSC Montpellier on loan for the 2014/15 season . The club had an option to buy.
At the beginning of July 2015, Barrios moved to Palmeiras São Paulo . In his first season he completed 13 league games and scored five times into the opposing goal. His club won the Copa do Brasil that year . In the following season he contributed with nine league appearances and one hit to win the Brazilian championship title. The successful team roster included Zé Roberto , who was also active in the Bundesliga in previous years at Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV.
From February 2017 he played for Gremio Porto Alegre , a Brazilian first division team. There he had a contract until the end of 2017. After winning the Copa Libertadores , he moved back to his former club Argentinos Juniors in early 2018 .
In July 2018 Barrios returned to Chilean top club CSD Colo-Colo on a free transfer .
In January 2019, Barrios will move to the Argentine first division club Atlético Huracán on a free transfer .
In January 2020 Barrios will move to the Argentine first division club Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata for free .
Paraguayan national team
On May 4, 2010 Barrios was appointed by national coach Gerardo Martino in the provisional World Cup squad of Paraguay . This initially comprised 30 players and was reduced to 23 players on June 1, 2010.
Barrios made his debut on May 25, 2010 in a friendly against Ireland (1: 2) for the Paraguayan national team, having only received Paraguayan citizenship in early April 2010. In this game he also scored his first goal in an international match. After Jonathan Santana and Néstor Ortigoza, Barrios is the third international in the Paraguayan World Cup squad to have Argentinean roots.
