Néstor Ezequiel Ortigoza (born October 7, 1984 in San Antonio de Padua ) is a Paraguayan football player .

Career

Born in Argentina, Ortigoza has been playing for Argentinos Juniors from the capital Buenos Aires in the Primera División , the highest Argentinian league , since 2004 . Only in the Clausura 2005 he was loaned for six months to the then second division club Nueva Chicago , a district club in Buenos Aires. After his return, it was not until 2007 that the defensive midfielder developed into a regular. In the Clausura 2010 he celebrated his first title when the Argentinos Juniors were able to win the championship again for the first time after two titles in the 1980s.

In the run-up to the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa , the Argentine national coach Diego Maradona was also interested in him and he received an invitation to a training camp, which then did not take place. Since the chances of a World Cup participation in the heavily occupied midfield of the Argentines were slim, Néstor Ortigoza, whose father comes from Paraguay, instead acquired Paraguayan citizenship in April 2009 and appeared on October 10, 2009 in a World Cup qualifier against Venezuela for the first time Paraguay. A total of six times he was used before the World Cup and was then also in Paraguay's squad for the final tournament. He was not used in the preliminary round matches, but in the round of 16 against Japan he had his first World Cup appearance and was on the starting line-up.
