Copa do Brasil 2014

The 2015 Copa do Brasil was the 27th edition of this national soccer cup competition in Brazil. The Copa was hosted by the Brazilian Sports Federation, the CBF . The cup winner was qualified as a participant in the Copa Libertadores 2016 .

The clubs that were not playing because of their participation in the Copa Libertadores 2015 entered the competition in the round of 16.

Seven teams that did not qualify for the round of 16 took part in the Copa Sudamericana 2015 . The starting places were allocated according to the current performance in the league competition.

The competition started its season on February 8, 2015 and ended on December 2, 2015. At the end of the season, the Palmeiras São Paulo won the title for the third time. The top scorer with eight goals was Gabriel Barbosa from FC Santos .

The mode consisted of a knockout system . For the first two rounds, the rule was that if a team wins an away first leg by at least two goals, there is no second leg.

The goal difference counted. In the event of a tie, the away goals rule was applied. If no winner was determined after these were used, this was determined in a penalty shoot-out.

The draw for the first phase of the cup took place on December 16, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro . The 80 teams were divided into eight groups (A to H) of 10 clubs each. The CBF ranking was used to determine the order. Then the pairings between groups A x E; B x F; C x D x G and H drawn.

Classification Copa Sudamericana

After completing the second round, the teams were determined which should continue to play in the Copa Sudamericana 2015 and which made it to the round of 16 in the Copa do Brasil. The best teams from the 2015 championship rounds, Série A and Série B , who had already been eliminated in the first two rounds of the Copa do Brasil , moved to the Sudamericana . Places 1 to 16 from Série A were classified in the order in which they were placed, then the four best came from Série B and then the 17 through to Série A.

Round of 16

Draw The pairings from the round of 16 onwards were drawn on August 4, 2015. Two lottery pots were formed. Pot A included the qualifiers from the Copa Libertadores and the two best teams from the CBF ranking. The remaining eight teams came into Pot B. In both pots, all clubs were sorted according to the CBF ranking. The pots were then divided into four groups.
