Dudu started his career at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte and played his first game in the Série A on June 14, 2009 against Palmeiras São Paulo . On April 27, 2010, the then 18-year-old was awarded a one-year loan to Coritiba FC and returned to Cruzeiro in 2011. On August 27, 2011 it was announced that Dudu is moving to the Ukrainian football club Dynamo Kiev for a transfer fee of five million euros .
In early 2014, Dudu returned to Brazil. Here he received a new contract with Grêmio Porto Alegre . The contract was a loan agreement with a term until the end of 2014.
After Corinthians São Paulo announced the signing of Dudu for the 2015 season in December , the signing of a contract with local rivals Palmeiras São Paulo became known in January . The contract had a term of four years. In his first year at the club, the first success came with winning the national cup in 2015 . He scored two goals against FC Santos in the final second leg . In the course of winning the ninth national championship in 2016 , Dudu was on the field in 33 games (three goals). Two years later in the tenth title win in the 2018 championship , he played 31 times (seven goals). His achievements over the years led to numerous awards and in January 2019 to a contract extension until the end of 2023.
On July 9, 2020, after five and a half seasons at Palmeiras, Dudu was loaned to al-Duhail SC to Qatar . The club paid seven million euros for a year. The contract includes a clause to buy Dudu for a further six million euros after the loan expires.
