The Arena do Grêmio is a football stadium in the Humaitá district of the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre in the state of Rio Grande do Sul . The privately financed stadium has a capacity of 60,540 spectators. The arena is the home stadium of the Gremio Porto Alegre club and was opened on December 8, 2012 with Gremio's 2-1 win over Hamburger SV . In the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, however, it was only used as a training ground. Instead, local rivals SC Internacional played at the Estádio Beira-Rio .
