Dominikus Mayer
Dominikus Mayer CanReg (born April 12, 1752 in Rottweil ; † October 7, 1823 in Beuron ) was the last abbot of the Augustinian canons of Beuron from 1790 to 1802 .
Dominikus Mayer joined the order of the Augustinian Canons , made his profession on August 25, 1771 and was ordained a priest on June 25, 1775 .
On October 5, 1790 he was elected abbot of the Augustinian canons of Beuron . After secularization in 1802, the monastery and its territory became the property of the Princely House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen .
The abbot of Beuron and his 15 canons were retired by a princely decree from Prince Anton Aloys from Sigmaringen in December 1802.
It was not until 1862 that the Benedictines moved into the old monastery buildings and in 1863 the old monastery was re-established as the Benedictine monastery of St. Martin .
Abbot Mayer's grave is located in the back central aisle of Beuron Abbey Church. There is an epitaph on the last south pillar.
