The Acre State Championship is the football championship of the State of Acre (Portuguese: Campeonato Acriano de Futebol ) in Brazil . It was played for the first time in 1919 and has been played annually since 1935 after several years of interruption.
Football in the westernmost state of Brazil was played at amateur level until 1988, from 1921 to 1946 in the Liga Acreana de Esportes Terrestres and since 1947 in the Federação Acreana de Desportos , which was renamed Federação de Futebol do Estado do Acre in 1999 . The clubs from the state capital Rio Branco are dominant ; only twice has the championship been won by a club apart from this ( Senador Guiomard , Plácido de Castro ). With 46 championships, the Rio Branco Football Club is the record holder by a wide margin.
