State Championship of Santa Catarina
The State Championship of Santa Catarina is the soccer championship of the state of Santa Catarina (Portuguese: Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol ) in Brazil . It was held for the first time in 1924 and has taken place annually since then - with the exception of 1946. It is organized by the National Football Association of Santa Catarina (port: Federação Catarinense de Futebol ).
The record winner is Figueirense FC from Florianópolis with 17 titles, followed by Avaí FC and Joinville EC . In addition, 20 other clubs entered the list of winners. In 1933 no champion could be determined and in 1946 the competition was not even held. In 2015, after the final, Joinville was first honored as a champion, but later the title was withdrawn from them by the state association for violating the rules.
