Fernando Büttenbender Prass (born July 9, 1978 in Porto Alegre ) is a Brazilian-German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Prass began his professional career with his youth club Gremio in his hometown. After several loan positions at second-rate clubs, he joined Coritiba FC in 2002 .

After a few years with the Portuguese first division club União de Leiria , where he became the goalkeeper, he returned to Brazil and joined Vasco da Gama . There he missed a single game in three Série A seasons after promotion in 2009. In 2011 he won a national title for the first time in Rio de Janeiro with the Copa do Brasil. After another year at Vasco, he moved to league rivals Palmeiras São Paulo .

In 2015 he was appointed to the Olympic selection for the summer games in Rio and completed a number of preparatory games with them. However, he broke his elbow and was unable to participate in the tournament.

After the second Copa do Brasil in 2015 , he also won his first Brasileirão in 2016 with Palmeiras . After Prass was replaced as a regular goalkeeper at Palmeiras by Wéverton (who already represented him at the Olympic Games) in the 2018 season , he ended his career as an active footballer there after the 2019 season. In January, however, he signed a contract with Ceará SC , which is valid for the 2020 season.
