Wéverton Pereira da Silva , called Wéverton , (born December 13, 1987 in Rio Branco ) is a Brazilian soccer goalkeeper .
Career
Wéverton started his career in the youth team of Corinthians São Paulo . Here, however, he did not make the leap into the first team, but was loaned out in his youth. In 2010 he moved to the Portuguesa São Paulo . Here he was able to prevail as the goalkeeper. In the 2012 season, the player then moved to Athletico Paranaense . For the 2018 season, Wéverton moved to Palmeiras São Paulo . The transfer fee from the contract, which ran until May 2018, was 2 million real , which should be paid in ten installments. The contract with Palmeiras had a term of five years. In his first year, Wéverton won the 2018 national championship with the club . In the competition he played 23 of 38 possible appearances.
National team
For the 2016 Summer Olympics , Wéverton was appointed to the U-23 squad after Fernando Prass failed . After conceding a goal throughout the tournament, he saved Nils Petersen's decisive penalty in the final penalty shoot-out to win the gold medal.
