The Allianz Parque is a football stadium in the biggest Brazilian city of São Paulo in the same state . It is the club's own home ground of the SE Palmeiras football club , one of the most successful clubs in the country, completed in November 2014 . The building was built on the site of the old Estádio Palestra Itália venue , where Palmeiras was located from 1917 to 2010.

history

The new building is a joint project between Palmeiras and the São Paulo-based construction company WTorre SA. The association concluded a contract with the company for the construction of the modern event location. The agreement stipulates that WTorre will carry out the construction and bear the costs. In return, the construction company will receive the income from ticket sales for the next thirty years. The US company Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) is also the operator .

The last official game in the old Palestra Itália , a 4-2 win against Grêmio Porto Alegre , was played on May 22, 2010. The farewell game took place a little later on July 9th between the home side and Boca Juniors from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . The Alviverde left the field of their long-term home with a 2-0 defeat and the demolition began. On July 15, 2011, the first of around 1400 piles, each 20 meters long, was inserted into the ground and marked the start of the foundation work . The first concrete pillar, around 18 meters long and weighing 25 tons, was brought into place on September 1, 2011. Another 400 of the supports followed. Work on the concrete stands was completed in mid-2013 and continued with the construction of the roof.

The inauguration took place on the evening of November 19, 2014, when Palmeiras faced Sport Recife in the first official game . The game in Série A was lost 2-0. Ananias scored the first official goal in the new stadium in the 78th minute of the game. Paul McCartney has announced two concerts for November 25 and 26, 2014 .

The opening was planned for April 2013. An inauguration for the 100th anniversary of the association on August 26, 2014 could not be implemented. The initially estimated construction costs of 330 million R $ increased to 630 million R $ to almost double.

Furnishing

Allianz Parque takes on the basic shape of the horseshoe-shaped Estádio Palestra Itália, in which the northern curve has been preserved. In the new arena, this area can be partitioned off, and a modern amphitheater with 12,000 seats extends over it. A multi-storey car park with a connection to the arena and more than 2,000 parking spaces was created behind the north curve . There are 43,713 covered seats on the surrounding two-story grandstands. Up to 55,000 visitors can come to the stadium for large concerts or shows. The 178 boxes are designed for over 2,800 seats, the press and media area for 1,500 journalists. There are 1,400 places available for disabled and physically handicapped visitors and their companions.

The seating is in beige and various shades of green . The roof consists of a steel girder construction that is held at five girder points. The five bearers are enthroned on the outer stairwells of the arena. Rainwater is collected over the stadium roof and used to water the lawn. The floodlight system installed on the edge of the roof has an illuminance of 2,000 lux . Two large LCD - Video walls with an area of each 103 m 2 (13.44 meters wide and 7.68 meters high) at the steel framework of the roof construction have been mounted. At the beginning of July 2014, the construction work was more than 90 percent complete.

The stadium facade was clad with perforated stainless steel strips, the strips of different widths have been processed into a wickerwork , such as a beach chair ; they should promote the natural ventilation of the building. In the stadium 500 antennas provide the visitor with a cellular connection and a free Wi-Fi - Internet access . To keep the visitors informed about the events in the stadium, 700 screens were installed in the arena. The facilities and other facilities include a congress center , a panorama restaurant, a food court , 16 elevators and 26 escalators .

The stadium project also includes other buildings, including a multi-storey building for various sports with a soccer field on the roof, an administration building, a club museum as well as tennis and basketball courts. The swimming pool area behind the south stand remained largely untouched by the construction work.

Naming rights

In April 2013, the insurance company Allianz SE acquired the naming rights to the arena. A total of seven stadiums around the world currently bear the name of the German insurer. In an internet vote, the three proposals Allianz 360 °, Allianz Parque and Allianz Center were available as future names. Allianz Parque prevailed with a clear majority of 89 percent (out of a total of 620,000 votes). The contracts run for twenty years and should be worth R $ 300 million .
