Ananias Eloi Castro Monteiro , called Ananias , (born January 20, 1989 in São Luís , Maranhão ; † November 28, 2016 in La Unión , Antioquia , Colombia ) was a Brazilian football player . He was right-footed and was most recently under contract with Chapecoense .

Career

Ananias Eloi Castro Monteiro received his training in the junior teams of the EC Bahia . He also made his professional debut for the club in Série B in 2008 . In 2011, Ananias was loaned to Portugesa for two years.

At the time, Portuguesa also had the nickname Barcelusa , derived from FC Barcelona . Because of his good performances, Castro Monteiro also received a special name and was then called Ananiesta in reference to Andrés Iniesta . In April 2012, the club bought half of its rights from Bahia.

In January 2013 Ananias moved to Cruzeiro. He was brought in to strengthen the team, but was loaned to Palmeiras after the Minas Gerais state championship in 2013. In 2014 he didn't get a chance for the Cruzeiro team either. On January 17, 2014 it was awarded to Sport Recife for one year.

Ananias died in the crash of LaMia flight 2933 on November 28, 2016. On December 2, 2016, the South American football association Conmebol posthumously declared the club the winner of the 2016 Copa Sudamericana .
