Bernhard "Berni" Termath (born August 26, 1928 in Essen ; † March 24, 2004 ) was a German football player and coach . Together with Helmut Rahn, he formed one of the most effective wing tongs in the Oberliga West. Thanks to his technical skill, a wealth of tricks, speed and hit quality, he was one of the top players in the West of football. From 1949 to 1955 he had completed 143 games in the Oberliga West for RW Essen and scored 56 goals. In the final round of the German championship, there were 13 more missions with six goals for RWE. For round 1955/56 he moved to the south to Karlsruher SC .

His first season at KSC, 1955/56, was also the most successful of the club that emerged from the merger of VfB Mühlburg with Phönix Karlsruhe in 1952: They won the southern German championship, the DFB Cup in 1955/56 and also made it to the final German championship against Borussia Dortmund , in which they lost 2: 4. He made his debut in the national team under national coach Sepp Herberger together with his club mate Helmut Rahn from RW Essen on November 21, 1951 in a 2-0 win in Istanbul against Turkey. After the end of his playing career in Karlsruhe, he trained the club's amateurs for seven years. In the 1967/68 season he jumped in after the dismissal of Georg Gawliczek from February 10, 1968 as a Bundesliga coach. In later years he was the dominant element in the AH of the old master Karlsruher FV . For some time he ran a gas station in his adopted home in Karlsruhe, then the trained businessman got a job as auditor for large companies at Badenwerk (now EnBW ) in Karlsruhe. He worked here until his retirement.
