Quilmes is a partido in the north of the greater Buenos Aires area in the province of Buenos Aires in Argentina . The administrative seat is the city of the same name Quilmes . According to the 2010 census, the Partido has 582,943 inhabitants on 125 km². The Partido and the city were named after the indigenous Quilmes people .

Quilmes is the namesake for an Argentine beer brand, Cerveza Quilmes , which was originally brewed in this area.
religion
In 1666, the Quilmes Cathedral (Catedral de Quilmes in Spanish) was built. In 1976 the diocese of Quilmes was created by a papal bull . The first minister was Padre Obispo Jorge Novak , who was known for his defense of human rights during the Argentine military dictatorship (1976-1983) .
Sports
Quilmes has two football clubs , the Quilmes Atlético Club der and the Club Atlético Argentino de Quilmes . The city excels in many other sports, including field hockey, basketball, and rugby. Well-known athletes such as Sergio Agüero , Lucas Ocampos or Sergio Gabriel Martínez were born here.
