Hans Hadamowsky
Hans Hadamowsky (born February 5, 1906 in Purkersdorf ; † December 12, 1986 ) was an Austrian oboist , university professor and composer .
life and work
As a child, Hans Hadamowsky first received violin and clarinet lessons, and later oboe lessons from Alexander Wunderer at the Vienna Music Academy . After graduating from high school, he also studied musicology at the University of Vienna and, in 1930, began studying the oboe with Joh. Seb. Bach to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1931 the diploma examination for oboe followed and in 1932 the diploma examination for composition with Franz Schmidt . 1936 Hadamowsky member of the Vienna Philharmonic and remained so in second oboist and English horn player until retirement in 1970. From 1950, he also held a professorship for oboe and music theory at the Vienna Music Academy. In 1986 Hadamowsky was killed in a railway accident.
In 1973 Hadamowsky, who was committed to the sound ideal of the Viennese oboe, self-published the three-volume work The Sound and Music Tradition of the Vienna Wind School , in which an attempt was made for the first time to define the characteristics of the Viennese music tradition. In the same year, also self-published, an oboe school appeared in 10 volumes.
Hadamowsky also emerged as a composer, including a sextet for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon and harp, which was premiered in a version for wind quintet and orchestra ("dance suite") in 1952 under Hans Knappertsbusch .
