The Cervecería y maltería Quilmes is an Argentine brewery .

The Cervecería Quilmes was founded in 1888 in the city of Quilmes ( Province of Buenos Aires ) by Otto Bemberg, a German immigrant. Quilmes was the most popular beer in Buenos Aires as early as the 1920s . Today the Quilmes brewery is the most commercially successful in Argentina.

The Quilmes beer brand, which is the best-selling among several other products under the control of the brewery, is advertised by the company as a national symbol: the labels are in colors similar to those of the flag of Argentina - blue and white (the flag colors are light blue and white ) - Quilmes is also one of the main sponsors of the Argentina national football team . The brewery is also a sponsor of the Quilmes AC football club .

The Quilmes brewery is currently located in Quilmes , Zárate , Tres Arroyos , Corrientes , San Miguel de Tucumán and Mendoza . The main export countries are Peru , Ecuador , Mexico , Puerto Rico , USA , Spain , France , Great Britain and Italy . Around 17 million hectoliters of beer and 8 million hectoliters of soft drinks are sold annually .

Cerveza Quilmes is controlled by Quilmes Industrial SA (QUINSA), a Luxembourg registered holding company that is also a franchisee of Pepsi Co in Argentina and Uruguay . QUINSA owns 30% of the brewery, but 53% of the voting rights.

In April 2006, the Brazilian company AmBev bought 37.5% of Quilmes SA, which in return took control of AmBev's brands - such as B. the beer brand Brahma - received in Argentina.
