The Quilmes Atlético Club is an Argentine football club from Quilmes in the province of Buenos Aires . The club is nicknamed El Cervecero because of the longstanding club sponsor, the " Cerveza Quilmes " brewery .
history
The club was founded on November 27, 1887 under the name Quilmes Rovers Club and is one of the oldest football clubs in the world. The founder was JT Stevenson and the first team was made up entirely of British immigrants. In 1900 the name was changed to Quilmes Athletic Club . It was not until 1950 that it was renamed Quilmes Atlético Club on the occasion of the promotion to the top division .
