Redoutable
Redoutable ( French : fearsome ) is the name of a number of warships in the French Navy :
- Redoutable (1706) : Prototype for a new class of ships
- Redoutable (1740) : privateer ship
- Redoutable (1749) : ship of the line with 74 cannons. Took part in the landing in Maó under Admiral la Galissonière, was destroyed in Lagos in 1759.
- Redoutable (1791) , ship of the line with 74 cannons. Fought Admiral Nelson's HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.
- Redoutable (1800) : Aviso , was applied by the HMS Success .
- Redoutable (1801) : Coast Guard ship
- Redoutable (1804) : a Schebeck
- Redoutable (1853) : steam and sailing ship
- Redoutable (1876) : first French warship with a steel hull.
- Redoutable (1931) : Redoutable (Q 136) was a submarine and lead ship of the Redoutable class during World War II.
- Le Redoutable (S 611) : first French nuclear submarine. Today the largest submarine in a museum open to the public.
