Cañuelas is the name of an administrative area ( Partido ) of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires and also the name of its capital. It is part of the metropolitan area of Gran Buenos Aires .
With 1,203 km² and 51,892 inhabitants (as of 2007), the Partido Cañuelas is also the largest and least populated administrative area of the Aglomerado Metropolitano Gran Buenos Aires . Between 1991 and 2001 the population increased by 37.78%. Between 2001 and 2007 the population increased by 5,031 people, which corresponds to an increase of almost 12%. About 31,000 people live in the city of the same name, Cañuelas.
