Farid Díaz (full name: Farid Alfonso Díaz Rhenals ; born July 20, 1983 in Agustín Codazzi , Colombia ) is a Colombian football player who is used as a defender . He is currently under contract with Olimpia .

Career

Club career

2003 Díaz signed a contract with the Colombian first division club Atlético Bucaramanga . From 2004 he established himself as a regular player and was used in the majority of league games. In July 2006 Díaz finally moved to Deportivo Rionegro in the Categoría Primera B , the second Colombian division, where he stayed until the end of the year and was used 27 times.

For the 2007 Apertura , Díaz moved to La Equidad , but was unable to assert himself there. Until the end of the first half of the season, he only made one appearance in the league. For the Finalización he moved again to the club and hired at Deportivo Pereira , where he was able to establish himself as a regular player and so came to 15 missions by the end of the year. Nevertheless, Díaz left with the end of the Finalización Deportivo Pereira and moved to Envigado FC .

Díaz stayed with Envigado until the end of 2012 and played four semi-annual championships. Overall, he ran 69 times for the club in the Colombian first division. For Apertura 2010 he rejoined Deportivo Pereira , where he was already active in the 2007 Finalización. Díaz stayed in the two half-year championships in 2010 and made 26 league appearances until he moved again to Envigado FC. After playing in Apertura and Finalización 2011 in a total of 32 league games in the Categoría Primera A, he joined Atlético Nacional in early 2012 .

In both 2012 and 2013, Díaz won the national cup with Atlético and the national championship three times between 2013 and 2015. On March 30, 2014, he scored his first league goal in the first Colombian division in the game against Santa Fe .

In July 2016 Díaz won the Copa Libertadores with Atlético Nacional . In 2016 Díaz won his third cup with Nacional and his fourth Colombian championship at Apertura 2017.

National team

On March 24, 2016 Díaz made his debut for the Colombian national team in the qualifier for the 2018 World Cup in the game against the Bolivian selection . After two more appearances - in the qualifier against Ecuador and in the friendly against Haiti - Díaz was appointed to the Colombian squad for the Copa America 2016 .

He was part of the Colombian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Brazil . He was not used and was eliminated with the team in the round of 16 against England on penalties.
