Agustín Codazzi is located in the north of Cesar , 60 km south of Valledupar . The community is part of the Sierra de Perijá , but is otherwise flat and has an average temperature of 28 ° C. Agostino Codazzi

The place was founded in 1700 by Félix Arias , but only got the status of a municipality in 1958. Until then, the place belonged to the neighboring municipality of La Paz Robles . Initially known as Espíritu Santo , Agustín Codazzi was renamed in 1958 in honor of the Italian military, geographer, and cartographer Agostino Codazzi , who died in Espíritu Santo in 1859.
