history
Location of the stadium in Nariño |
The Estadio Departamental Libertad was completed in 1955 during the reign of the dictator Gustavo Rojas Pinilla . Initially it was called after the date Rojas came to power Pinilla Estadio 13 de Junio , but was renamed Estadio Departamental Libertad three years later after its removal . It is south of the city of Pasto.
In the 1970s, the stadium was expanded to include a west curve. The stadium was rebuilt in 2000 for the Juegos Nacionales . A second phase of modernization took place from 2005 to 2006 and a third phase in 2007 because of Deportivo Pasto's first participation in the Copa Libertadores . During the last renovation to date, the stadium was closed.
In 2019, extensive modernization work will be carried out on the stadium, which is why Deportivo Pasto will have to move to Ipiales for a year .
