Fritz Polensky (born January 1, 1876 in Driesen , † December 7, 1959 in Cologne ) was a German civil engineer and contractor.

Life

Fritz Polensky was the twin brother of Gustav Polensky jun. (1876–1940) and youngest son of Gustav Polensky (1846–1908), born. He attended school in his hometown. After training, he began studying civil engineering at the TH Darmstadt in the summer semester of 1904 . During his time in Darmstadt he was in friendly contact with Waldemar Petersen . Both were members of the striking connection Corps Rhenania Darmstadt. Fritz Polensky graduated with a diploma in 1907.

After completing his studies, he moved to Berlin, where he became government construction manager for the railway construction sector. His state examination took place in 1910 at the Technical Higher Examination Office in Berlin. Subsequently he was a government master builder at the railway directorates in Stettin and Magdeburg . In 1912 he joined his father's company Polensky & Zöllner and was there, alongside his brothers Otto Polensky (1873-1936) and Gustav Polensky jun. Member of the Executive Board. He initially directed extensive railway construction work in Upper Silesia. After the First World War, the company founded regional branches in Berlin, Munich and Cologne-Bayenthal. Polensky moved to Cologne-Bayenthal and from then on managed the branch there.

In 1928, at the request of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, he received an honorary doctorate from the TH Darmstadt for his special services in his field. In the 1930s he appeared as a patron of the chair for railway engineering at the TH Darmstadt. For many years he was a member of the Association of Friends of the Technical University of Darmstadt . After the Second World War, he was initially not included in the list of all honorary doctors compiled by the TU Darmstadt for the first time, probably due to the connection to Wolfgang Petersen and the cooperation between Polensky & Zöllner and the Todt organization during the Second World War. The application of the company Polensky & Zöllner on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 1955 for inclusion in the list was granted by the TH Darmstadt in 1956.

After the death of Otto Polensky on May 27, 1936 and the surprising death of Gustav Polensky junior. on April 25, 1940, Fritz Polensky was the founder's last remaining son in the management, from which he left on December 31, 1944. After the Second World War and the loss of the head office in Driesen, the head office was relocated first to Lahde and finally to Frankfurt am Main in 1953.

Fritz Polensky died in Cologne on December 7, 1959 at the age of 83.
