Stephan Aschböck

Stephan Aschböck (* 1956 in Mittersill , Salzburg ) is an Austrian jazz musician (piano, keyboard, electronic) and composer.

Live and act

Aschböck studied piano and composition at the Jazz Institute of the Vienna Conservatory and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Fritz Pauer . He works as a freelance composer and musician in the field of jazz, improvisational music and electroacoustic and electronic music.

Aschböck is the founder and leader of three groups: Koan , Suckpower and Pentadom . He worked with musicians such as Wolfgang Puschnig , Harry Sokal , Bumi Fian , Wolfgang Reisinger , Wolfgang Mitterer , Jean-Paul Céléa and Jojo Mayer and performed at jazz festivals in Austria, Germany, France, the Benelux countries and Finland.

In 1992, Pentadom premiered The Very Moment at the Saalfelden International Jazz Festival . Aschböck played the live electronics for the world premiere of Thomas Pernes ' Songs of an Imaginary Voice . He gave several solo performances as a live electronics engineer. With Helge Hinteregger he forms the duo Rote Zone ; he was also part of The Comfort of Madness .

Aschböck composed film scores (including for Hanna and Valentino by Fritz Lehner and Mautplatz by Christian Berger ) and music for the stage (including for Wolken.Heim by Elfriede Jelinek ).
