Extra plate
Extraplatte was an independent Austrian music label that existed from 1977 to 2013. This was followed by a sales department and a shop at Währinger Straße 46 in Vienna . More than 1200 records , CDs , videos and DVDs have been published by Extraplatte since it was founded . Jazz , new folk music and world music , but also early music , romanticism and contemporary classical music have established themselves as the label's focus .
history
The label was founded by musicians around the Viennese folk club Atlantis ; In 1979 it was taken over by Harald Quendler, who ran it from 1981 to bankruptcy in summer 2013. In 2007, sales fell by 70%. In an interview in 2007 Quendler attributed the label's specialty to the close collaboration with the artists; so there has been no separation between producers and artists since the beginning; everyone worked together.
The combination of production, publishing and sales was unique in Austria, especially in the 1970s. Extraplatte published records from the butterflies and minisex , the Vienna Art Orchestra , Geduldig un Thimann , the Wiener Tschuschenkapelle , Lukas Resetarits and Josef Hader . The label has made a particular contribution to Austrian jazz and has published productions by, for example, Willi Landl , Franz Hautzinger , Max Nagl , Nouvelle Cuisine , Dobrek Bistro and Paul Urbanek .
