Jefferson Andrés Lerma Solís (born October 25, 1994 in El Cerrito ) is a Colombian football player who has been under contract with AFC Bournemouth in the English EFL Championship since summer 2018 . The defensive midfielder has been a Colombian international since November 2017 .
Career

Jefferson Lerma began his career in his native Colombia with Atlético Huila . After more than 80 competitive appearances for the first division team , the defensive midfielder dared to move to Europe to join the Spanish first division UD Levante in the summer of 2015 , which he loaned for the entire 2015/16 season . Levante secured a purchase option of 600,000, which should activate after 25 completed games. He made his debut on August 30 in a 0-0 draw against UD Las Palmas when he came on for Nabil Ghilas in the closing stages . At the Valencia club he took a place in the starting line-up immediately after his arrival. After he had played his 25th competitive game, he became an integral part of the team in mid-March 2016 and received a four-year contract.
After three seasons at Levante, Lerma moved to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on August 7, 2018 for a club-internal record transfer of 28 million euros . In his first season 2018/19 , he made 30 league games in which he scored two goals. In the following 2019/20 season , he played 33 league games in which he scored a goal, but had to accept relegation to the second-rate EFL Championship with the Cherries .
National team
Jefferson Lerma was part of the squad that represented Colombia at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
In the senior national team , Lerma made his debut on November 10, 2017 in a friendly against the Republic of Korea , which was lost 2-1. He was also part of the 23-man squad of Colombia who represented the country at the 2018 World Cup . There he was used in all four games and was eliminated with the team in the round of 16 against England on penalties.
