Charles John "Charlie" Daniels (born September 7, 1986 in Harlow ) is an English football player . The defender had been his obligation in 2011/12 an important part of AFC Bournemouth on the way up from the third division to the Premier League .

Career

The left-back came from Tottenham Hotspur's youth work . He signed his first professional contract with the "Spurs" in 2005. However, he never received a probation chance in the first team in the following years; instead, he gained some match practice with three third division clubs. While he only spent a month at Chesterfield FC from mid-March 2007 and also stayed at Gillingham FC slightly longer from August 2008 (two months), his engagement at Leyton Orient, also based in London, was designed for the entire 2007/08 season . The Spurs let him move there free of charge in January 2009 after he had made a good impression there and the "Spurs" saw no reason to continue working.

In the next three years Daniels was a constant for “Orient”. He completed 117 third division games before moving to rivals AFC Bournemouth in November 2011 . The transfer took place outside the permissible changeover period, so that the period up to January 2012 was declared "on paper" as a loan transaction. According to press reports, the transfer fee was £ 200,000. Daniels became a key player on the right side of defense in a team that initially achieved promotion to the second division in the 2012/13 season and two years later the march into the Premier League as a second division champion followed.

In the first three Premier League years Daniels remained in the team of coach Eddie Howe regular player and he was able to assert himself against changing competition in his position. In between, he signed a contract extension to summer 2020 in September 2017. In December 2018, he played his 250th competitive game for Bournemouth against Wolverhampton Wanderers . He played a total of 24 competitive games in the 2018/19 season, but an injury to his left kneecap in training caused an early end in April 2019. He returned at the beginning of the following 2019/20 season, but already on his second appearance against Manchester City , he sustained such a severe injury to his right patellar tendon that the doctors in charge predicted the failure for the rest of the season after a subsequent operation.
