Lewis John Cook (born February 3, 1997 in York ) is an English football player who is currently under contract with the English first division AFC Bournemouth and is also a U-21 and senior national player for England .

Career

society

Cook had been an integral part of the first team of the English Football League Championship Club Leeds United since the 2014/15 season , having emerged from the U-18 youth division there. Cook made his first competitive game for the traditional Northern England club on August 9, 2014, when they faced Millwall FC on matchday one of the Football League Championship . Cook came on 26 minutes from time and Leeds lost 2-0. The central midfielder made 36 more appearances in the season before he became an absolute leader in the 2015/16 season and played 43 games, most of them over the full 90 minutes.

Due to his enormous potential, more and more clubs became aware of him and so the English first division club from the Premier League , AFC Bournemouth , announced Cook as a new addition for the 2016/17 season on July 8, 2016. Lewis Cook signed in Bournemouth until June 30, 2020. The transfer fee amounts to the equivalent of seven million euros, with the transfer fee including bonuses increasing to around twelve million.

National team

Lewis Cook went through all youth national teams in his country starting with the English U-16 national football team and is the current national player of the England U-21 and also the senior team, in which he made his debut on March 27, 2018 against Italy in a friendly. With the English U-17 he became the U-17 European champion in Malta in 2014 after England defeated the Dutch U-17 4-1 on penalties in the final and U-20 world champion in South Korea after a 1-0 win over Venezuela .
