Richard Schmitz (Hotelier)
Richard Schmitz (born June 9, 1937 in Wülscheid ) is a German hotelier.
Live and act
Richard Schmitz grew up on a farm. He completed an apprenticeship as a pastry chef in Cologne , worked as a cook in the federal guest house on Petersberg and obtained a diploma from the Lausanne hotel management school . He then worked from 1963 to 1964 as a receptionist at the Hotel Ritz in London, as a banquet waiter in several other hotels in London and at the Hotel Le Bristol in Paris. From 1964 to 1966 he was the receptionist at the Dom-Hotel Cologne and then Assistant Manager in hotels in Zurich.
In 1968 he became second director, 1970 first director and 1973 managing director of Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden and remained in this position until 2000. For over thirty years he was Vice President of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Baden-Baden Hotel and Restaurant Association . He was a co-founder of the German-Russian Economic Forum of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce.
He put his experiences and experiences in 2007 in the book For the shine in the eyes: My life under five stars .
In 2014 Richard Schmitz was one of the founding members of the voter initiative “Free Citizens for Baden-Baden”. He has been with Edith Riccarda born in 1964. Juon is married and has three sons.
