Dario Dainelli (born June 9, 1979 in Pontedera ) is a former Italian football player . He played in the position of central defender .

Career

In the club

Dario Dainelli started his career at FC Empoli , but there he was never used in the professional team. After loan periods at FC Modena and SS Cavese , he moved to Fidelis Andria in Serie C1 in 1999 . Here he was a regular player and, thanks to his solid performance, made the leap to Serie A at US Lecce . He then played for Brescia Calcio and Hellas Verona in Serie A before moving to Fiorentina for the 2004/05 season. He stayed there until the beginning of 2010 and then joined the CFC Genoa . In January 2012 he moved to Chievo Verona .

In the national team

Dainelli was part of the Italian squad of coach Claudio Gentile at the U-21 European Football Championship in 2002 , but was not used during the tournament. Between 2005 and 2006 he was in the squad of the Italian senior team four times , his international debut on June 11, 2005 in a friendly against Ecuador under Marcello Lippi was also his only appearance.
