Lin Carter

Linwood Vrooman Carter (born June 9, 1930 in St. Petersburg , Florida , † February 7, 1988 ) was an American writer of science fiction and fantasy and active as an editor and critic . He usually wrote under the pseudonym Lin Carter, other pseudonyms were: HP Lowcraft, Cgral Udwin ( or Grail Undwin ).

Life

Linwood Carter was born in 1930 in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he grew up and went to school. He was wounded in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart . He then returned to his hometown for a short time before moving to New York in 1953 to study at Columbia University . He worked for various agencies and publishers for about 15 years and made his novel debut with The Wizard of Lemuria in 1965 . In 1969 he became a professional author. He frequently wrote several novels and short stories each year and was the editor of several fantasy story collections. He helped the stories of Robert E. Howard to a renaissance by collecting and organizing Howard's stories together with L. Sprague DeCamp and Björn Nyberg and adding his own stories and novels to them.
