Christine Goitschel , married Béranger (born June 9, 1944 in Sainte-Maxime , Département Var ) is a former French ski racer . She is the older sister of Marielle Goitschel .

She celebrated her greatest successes at the 1964 Olympic Games in Innsbruck . She was Olympic champion in slalom ahead of her sister Marielle . In the giant slalom , she won the silver medal behind her sister and at the same time as the American Jean Saubert . The Goitschel sisters caused additional press coverage when Marielle announced her imminent marriage to Jean-Claude Killy and Christine "confirmed" this. However, this was a joke they made up to make fun of the journalists. In 1964, she and her sister were awarded the Skieur d'Or by the International Association of Ski Journalists (AIJS) .

On March 11, 1967, Christine Goitschel won the World Cup giant slalom in Franconia , in the same year she became French slalom champion . Her victories before the introduction of the World Cup included two slalom victories at the Staufen Cup in Oberstaufen in 1964 and 1965, while she was second in the slalom at the SDS races in Grindelwald in 1963 and third in 1966. Goitschel was married to the former ski racer, trainer and FFS President Jean Béranger (1937– † August 17, 2012).
