Perrine Pelen (born July 3, 1960 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) is a former French ski racer . She was one of the most successful female athletes from the late 1970s to the first half of the 1980s. Her specialty disciplines were slalom and giant slalom , but she was also successful in the combined ratings.
biography
She won five medals in major title competitions. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid , she won the bronze medal in giant slalom behind Hanni Wenzel and Irene Epple (with a hundredth of a second ahead of her teammate Fabienne Serrat ). Four years later in Sarajevo she was second behind Paoletta Magoni in the slalom; in the giant slalom she came third behind the Americans Debbie Armstrong and Christin Cooper .
She was also successful at the World Ski Championships: after finishing 4th in the slalom in 1978 at Gudiberg in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1978, she was runner-up in 1982 in Schladming behind Erika Hess in combination. Could their greatest success in Santa Caterina in the World Ski Championships in 1985 from Bormio celebrate with the world champion title in slalom.
In the Ski World Cup , Pelen won fifteen world cup races between 1977 and 1984, all of them slaloms. Their most successful season was 1979/80 with four wins; this was enough to win the slalom world cup. From 1979 to the end of her career in 1986 she was French champion ten times , seven times in slalom and three times in giant slalom. In the World Series of Skiing , which is only part of the Nations Cup , she was second in the slalom of Aprica on November 30, 1976, while she won the giant slalom in San Sicario on December 1, 1977.
