FX cartridges

The FX cartridge is a type of training ammunition with color projectiles and is manufactured by the Canadian company Simunition.

This marker ammunition (also called simunition ), which originated in Canada , can only be fired in a targeted manner (depending on the caliber) with special or adapted weapons. This type of cartridge is available for weapons with the calibers 9 × 19 mm , .38 Special , .357 Magnum and 5.56 × 45 mm NATO . The casings of this ammunition are in two parts: the rear part is made of brass , the front part, designed as a punch, is made of aluminum or plastic. This is pushed forward a little when firing, which is necessary to repeat the weapon with the mass lock. The recoil impulse of the bullet, which weighs only 3.5–10 grains (0.23–0.65 g), is too weak for this. When the sub-caliber bullet hits, it is crushed, whereupon the paint emerges at the predetermined breaking points and wets the target in a star shape. This ammunition is mainly used by authorities and security services for combat exercises. The participants must wear protective clothing. Only the cases have the 9 mm diameter of the 9 mm Luger cartridges, the bullets have a diameter of 7.6 mm. The FX cartridges are available in different colors.

FX cartridges with black colored projectiles can be fatal. The projectile is made of hard plastic and, unlike the FX ammunition, does not contain any paint or soap; it is not a practice ammunition and can lead to life-threatening injuries.
