Sainte-Maxime (Occitan: Santa maxima or Santo Massimo) is a French municipality with 13,968 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) on the Côte d'Azur in the Var department in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It is the capital of the canton of Sainte-Maxime in the Arrondissement of Draguignan .

geography

Sainte-Maxime is located in the north of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez . The wooded hills of the Massif des Maures protect the place from the Mistral . The climate is mild. The Domaine du Golf de Sainte-Maxime and the Domaine de Beauvallon are considered to be one of the most exclusive residential areas.

Town twinning

Sainte-Maxime has had a town partnership with Neuenbürg in Baden-Württemberg since 1993 . Another partnership exists with Bellport in Suffolk County in the US state of New York.

Sainte-Maxime has a friendship treaty with Anderlecht in the Belgian region of Brussels.
